Trip to Thailand

We have decided to go visit our daughter in Thailand.  She’s teaching English there at a girls school.  Honestly, my first thought was “oh my gosh what am I going to eat?”  Isn’t that terrible that one bad incident has caused me to fear food?  I have really been enjoying this Isagenix  stuff (I have even lost some weight, something I didn’t expect) so I figured out how to order enough for Thailand.  I ordered shakes in packet form, and protein bars.  This gives me at least 2 meals a day.

I think it will come in handy on the plane as well.  I hate plane food but who doesn’t.

I am excited to also eat some Thai food (I love it!) but I guess I am a bit afraid of going through what occurred last time in Hawaii.  I know, it’s sort of weird so part of it is just me getting over a mental barrier.  We are leaving for Thailand in 1 month  and I can’t wait!

Ugh – Indigestion

What a way to start a blog.  Ugh!

Last year I had a horrible bout with indigestion for no apparent reason.  I’m 54 years old and I’ve never had stomach issues.  I don’t even remember having the flu as a child.  It started while I was on vacation in Maui.  We stayed in a beautiful condo on the beach and since eating out can be expensive in Hawaii, we decided to go grocery shopping and cook most of our meals.  On the 3rd day I made eggs and sausage for breakfast.  Within 30 minutes I became horribly sick (obviously food poisoning) and vomited on and off for the rest of the day.  The next few days I managed to keep up with the rest of the family, but I definitely wasn’t myself.  Two weeks after returning home I still wasn’t right and was still having diarrhea so I decided to go to the Dr.  Which was basically a waste of time and money because she told me to keep hydrated and wait it out.  It took almost a month for my stools to return to normal.  And I’ve had indigestion ever since.  I tried to adjust my diet and stay away from acidic foods.  I made sure I didn’t eat after 6.  Nothing worked.  Late into the night, every night,  I would be woken up by a terrible burning in my chest.  Often tasting the acid in my throat.  Good god!  How long would this go on I thought?

So I started consulting my friends.  Anne told me to eat more yogurt.  Stop drinking coffee altogether.  Elizabeth told me to try the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, applesauce and toast)  Sheila told me to try Ionix Supreme from a friend of hers at  She ate horribly and always had indigestion.  She said she’d been drinking it for a few months and it was a liquid product that came from Isagenix.   Eh?  I asked her “what the heck is Isagenix and how much does Isagenix cost?”  At this point I was so tired of feeling like crap and was willing to try anything so she ordered me a bottle for $32 and the miracle began.  I slept through the night for the first time in 8 months!  I couldn’t believe it.  In fact, I woke up in the morning and actually thought I must be dreaming because I had slept through the night.  Read More →
